Man arrested after Clovis Police chase
Clovis (KSMX)- One man has been arrested after leading Clovis police on a chase and shooting at officers in the early morning Friday.
According to the Clovis Police Department, at about 4:45 a.m., an officer spotted a dark-colored vehicle in the area of 10th and Walnut Streets that he believed to have been stolen. The officer turned to follow the vehicle in order to get the license plate when the vehicle drove through a stop sign and immediately after the officer heard what he believed to be gunshots coming from the vehicle. A pursuit then ensued.
After continuing through the city, the pursuit ended near the railroad tracks at the Martin Luther King Boulevard railroad crossing.
Two subjects got out of the vehicle and ran in separate directions.
One of the suspects, identified as 20-year-old Jeremy Banning, was arrested.
Police took two firearms off of Banning.
Officers found there were multiple bullet holes to the rear windshield and tailgate which were from the suspects shooting from within the vehicle during the chase. Detectives also found multiple exploded shell casings inside the vehicle.
The vehicle, a Chevrolet Trax, was discovered to have been stolen but it wasn’t reported.
