Los Lunas man arrested for child solicitation in the Clovis area

CLOVIS (KSMX)-  The Curry County Sherrif’s office has arrested a Los Lunas man for child solicitation and attempted criminal sexual communication with a child.

Per the press release, on Wednesday, July 1, Curry County Sheriff’s investigators arrested Felix Wheeler, 46, charging him with child solicitation by an electronic communication device, a 3rd-degree felony, and attempted criminal sexual communication with a child, a misdemeanor.

Beginning on May 29, Wheeler contacted an undercover chat profile that represents a 14-year-old child in the Clovis area.

Wheeler’s chat was sexually graphic, including sending nude photographs of himself. On July 1, Wheeler advised that he would be traveling to Clovis to meet the child and engage in sexual activity.

After arriving at the predetermined meeting location, Wheeler was arrested by awaiting deputies.

Wheeler was booked into the Curry County Detention Center pending a detention hearing.
