Longer school days ahead for New Mexico students

Parents should expect longer school days for students this year as schools attempt to “make up for lost time” in the wake of Covid 19 pandemic closures. Additional time requirements have been added to New Mexico schools to help raise student achievement levels this year.

Clovis Schools, grade 1-12, begin on August 10th.  Pre-K and Kindergarten begin on August 14th. School hours will be from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. this year, which is slightly longer than previous years

Dora Schools begin on August 9th, hours have shifted slightly to start at 7:55 a.m. and end at 3:55 p.m. No additional school days have been added.

Grady Schools begin on August 7th, school hours will be 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. to fulfill state requirements.

Floyd Schools begin August 14th, school days are extended this year by 10 minutes from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Melrose begins August 7th, the school day will run from 8 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Elida schools begin on August 14th.
