LOCAL COLLEGES CONTINUE TO PROVIDE AN ATMOSPHERE FOR MILITARY AND VETERAN STUDENT SUCCESS

This week, two local colleges in the High Plains have each earned the designation of “Military Friendly,” each receiving high honors in their own respect. Clovis Community College was honored with silver status; while Eastern New Mexico University gained gold. Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. Ratings are determined within a logic-based scoring assessment that measures an institution’s ability to meet thresholds to propel students further into their college careers, i.e. Graduation, Job Placement, and Loan Repayment to name a few.

“This designation shows our commitment to serving the needs of our military and veteran students and families,” said Dr. Robin Kuykendall, Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs at CCC. “At the same time, the annual application process allows us an opportunity to identify ways we can continuously improve to ensure we are meeting the needs of our military community and strive to serve our students in even better ways.”

Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. Ratings are determined within a logic-based scoring assessment that measures an institution’s ability to meet thresholds for Student Retention, Graduation, Job Placement, Loan Repayment, Persistence (Degree Advancement or Transfer) and Loan Default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.

“ENMU is honored to earn this designation and very proud of its record of serving military and veteran students.” said Patrice Caldwell, ENMU President. “These students are an asset to our learning environment. We applaud their service to our nation and commit to providing quality, affordable programs at a friendly and supportive campus, whether online or in-person.”

“Military Friendly® is committed to transparency and providing consistent data-driven standards in our designation process.

The 2022-2023 Military Friendly® Schools list will be published in the May and October issue of G.I. Jobs magazine and can be found at www.militaryfriendly.com.
