LEGISLATIVE UPDATE: EASIER REGISTER TO VOTE

SANTA FE (KSMX) – In Santa Fe, the House of Representatives has passed a bill that would allow eligible citizens to register and vote the same date at the same location. The New Mexico Senate still has to approve the measure. The House version requires would-be voters to prove residency in that precinct. It also allows for registration and early voting as long as it’s in the county they live in. Also, in the House, is a push to require vehicles to have a front and rear license plate. The bill, according to supporters, would give another tool in identifying vehicles and help cut down on crime. Thirty-one states require front and back plates.
