JUNE 15TH ESCAPE AID SARINA DODSON SENTENCED

CLOVIS (KSMX)- Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Andrea Reeb, announced that yesterday Sarina Dodson, age 28, of Clovis, was sentenced per a plea agreement, on three counts of Assisting Escape, third degree felonies, and one count of Bringing Contraband into a Jail, a fourth-degree felony.

On June 15, 2018, Curry County Detention inmates Aaron Clark, Victor Apodaca and Ricky Sena escaped from the outdoor recreation area of the jail through three secured doors. Sarina Dodson was the only detention officer working the control desk at the time.  Dodson was arrested in Lubbock on June 19, 2018.  The three inmates were at large for almost a week before they were apprehended during a standoff with Clovis Police.

The Honorable Matthew Chandler presided over the sentencing hearing. Chandler stated, “This wasn’t a spontaneous decision, this was the result of days and week of planning.  We can all remember where we were when we heard that three dangerous inmates had escaped.  The ripple effect of fear spread across the community.” Chandler sentenced Dodson to 10 ½ years with 18 months being suspended in favor of supervised probation.
