INCOME SUPPORT OFFICE UP FOR POSSIBLE CLOSUER
New Mexico Human Services Department (NMHSD) is considering closing the Portales Income Support Division office permanently which has been shuttered since July 2020 when an employee caught Covid19. NM Income Support Division serves low-income New Mexicans through SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), Medicaid, LiHeap and more. New Mexicans seeking assistance are being routed to the internet portal and a toll-free number to handle all the paperwork to apply for services.
