Homicide Update: 700 Dawn Loop, Clovis, New Mexico
Media Release, Clovis Police Department:
On Friday, August 4, 2023, at about 9:56 a.m., officers of the Clovis Police Department were dispatched to 700 Dawn Loop for a burglary in progress. The caller told dispatch a male had broken into her house and she had shot him. Officers arrived on scene and discovered a male inside the house had been shot and succumbed to his injuries.
The Ninth Judicial Major Crimes Unit (MCU) was activated to aide in this investigation. All persons involved in this incident have been located and are cooperating with the investigation.
Through the investigation, the male victim has been identified as Javier Jimenez Jr., age 39. The person who resides at the residence has been identified as Alexandra Romero, age 28. Alexandra was in the court process of obtaining a restraining order against Javier. Additionally, Javier had been arrested for Criminal Trespassing at the same residence in May 2022. This is an ongoing investigation while investigators await autopsy results and continue to conduct interviews and process evidence. At this time, no charges have been filed in this incident. A decision to file charges in this case is pending the outcome of the investigation.
