HOME DAMAGED AFTER ACCIDENT IN CURRY COUNTY

On Tuesday, September 30, 2020 at 7:46 AM, Curry County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a motor-vehicle crash involving a semi-tractor and an occupied residence near the intersection of Curry Road 10 (East 7th Street) and Curry Road G (Sugarbeet Road).

The investigation, thus far, has determined that a 2000 Peterbilt truck, driven by Eldon Mayo (64, Artesia, NM) was traveling southbound on Curry Road G. The truck was also occupied by Travis Mann (44, Artesia, NM). At the intersection of Curry Road G and Curry Road 10, Mayo’s Vehicle collided with an eastbound 2009 BMW sedan driven by Zachary Martinez (22, Clovis, NM).

As a result of the collision the truck struck an electrical power transformer along with other utility equipment, and then a residence occupied by Crystal May (51, Clovis, NM) located in the 900 Block of Curry Road G. Damage during the crash caused a disruption of electrical service in the area for a brief period. Mann was transported by ambulance to Plains Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. May was treated and released at the scene for minor injuries. An investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing.
