GRANT FUNDING APPROVAL FOR BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE

The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) has awarded Curry County $4,538.32 of grant funding, through the Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) Program for the purpose of purchasing body armor for law enforcement officers. The Bulletproof Vest Partnership was created by the Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant Act of 1998. This unique U.S. Department of Justice initiative, is designed to provide a critical resource to state and local law enforcement. The program reimburses states, counties, federally recognized tribes, cities, and local jurisdictions up to 50% of the cost of bulletproof vests purchased for law enforcement officers.
County Manager, Lance Pyle stated, “for more than sixteen years, Curry County has participated in the Bureau of Justice, Bulletproof Vest Partnership. In that time, the County has received $41,083.48 of grant funding, which has gone toward the purchase of approximately one hundred (100) uniquely fitted vests for law enforcement officers with the Curry County Sheriff’s Office.”
