GRANT AWARDED TO PORTALES MUNICIPAL AIRPORT
The Portales Municipal Airport received good news from the U.S. Department of Transportation on Friday with a notice of a Grant award worth $2,972,597.
This grant will provide federal funding for the Portales Municipal Airport. This project will reconstruct 5,700 feet of Runway 1/19 and 4,500 feet of Runway 8/26 to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement and to minimize foreign object debris.
Portales Municipal Airport is a general aviation airport, as defined in the FAA’s National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) report.
“Infrastructure projects funded by these grants will advance safety, improve travel, generate jobs and provide other economic benefits for local communities,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao.
