GOVERNOR DEDICATES NEW VETERANS CEMETERY
ANGEL FIRE (KSMX) Next Sunday is Veterans Day, but recently Governor Susana Martinez dedicated the new Veterans Cemetery in Angel Fire. The new cemetery will serve veterans and their families in northern New Mexico who live too far from the other cemeteries in the state. Other existing burial options for veterans are the Santa Fe National Cemetery, and Fort Bayard. Angel Fire is one of four new veterans cemeteries constructed under Governor Martinez’s administration- Fort Stanton State Veterans Cemetery, which opened last November; Gallup, which will open next spring, and another in Carlsbad, which is currently in the pre-construction phase. The Veterans Cemetery in Angel Fire came in at a $3.2 million price tag to the Veterans Administration.
