NEW MEXICO (KSMX) – For the first time since October, gas prices are on the rise. AAA New Mexico Weekend Gas Watch reports that the statewide average for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is $2.07. This is two cents higher than this day last week. Despite the rise, that is still 35 cents per gallon less than this day last year. Our statewide average still sits significantly lower than the national average, which is currently $2.28 for a gallon of unleaded gas. One reason officials note for the rise in prices, is the extreme cold much of the nation saw last week.
