GAS PRICES LESS THEN THIS TIME LAST YEAR JUST IN TIME FOR TRAVELING
CLOVIS (KSMX)- Because of the abundant traveling during this Memorial Day weekend, many should keep in mind that the cost of the statewide gas price average in New Mexico is $2.72 for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel, according to the AAA New Mexico Weekend Gas Watch. That price is one cent less compared to this day last week and 23 cents less per gallon than this day last year. AAA New Mexico is forecasting that three million Mountain Region residents will to drive to their Memorial Day weekend destination, a four percent increase over last year. The Mountain Region includes New Mexico and nearby states.
Gas prices are getting cheaper for the majority of motorists despite the fact that gasoline stocks remain lower compared to this time one year ago. Crude oil prices have remained relatively stable recently, which is one reason gas prices are cheaper than last year at this time. The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.84 which is two cents less compared to this day last week and 12 cents less than the price per gallon on this day last year.
