FRAUDULENT SCAMMERS IMPERSONATING OSHA INSPECTORS
Clovis (KSMX) – Attorney General Hector Balderas has issued a scam alert, warning New Mexico restaurants and other businesses of individuals impersonating an Occupational Safety & Health inspector. These scammers are visiting New Mexico restaurants and collecting $100 “fines” for alleged violations. Balderas advises restaurants and businesses to never pay an inspector without proof that he or she is legitimate. Authorized inspectors will always present credentials and any violations or fines will be in writing. Legitimate inspectors will not request social security numbers, credit card numbers, or any other personal information.
Balderas requests that any business that is approached by fraudulent scammers to report the incident to his office at www.nmag.gov or call 1-844-255-9210.
