FOUR PEOPLE ARRESTED IN ROOSEVELT COUNTY SHOOTING
Four people have been arrested following an incident in Portales. Friday, the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an address on New York Drive in Roosevelt County I response to a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, deputies located a male victim, with a single gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported to a regional hospital and is currently listed in critical condition. The 9th Judicial Major Crimes unit was activated to investigate the incident.
During the course of the investigation numerous witnesses were interviewed and the crime scene was examined. According to a release from the Sheriff’s department, the victim was lured to Roosevelt County via social media for a drug transaction and that the intended purchasers planned to rob him upon arrival. Charges range from Armed Robbery with a deadly weapon, aggravated burglary, conspiracy to commit felony, assault with intent to commit a violent felony and tampering with evidence. The incident is still under investigation and names have not been released as it involves juveniles.
