FORMER TUCUMCARI FIRE CHIEF TAKES PLEA DEAL
CLOVIS (KSMX)- 42-year-old Shane Warner of Clovis and the former Tucumcari fire Chief plead no contest to embezzling, obstructing an officer, and tampering with evidence and assault on Monday, April 29th.
Under the terms of a plea deal Warner will serve a 9 ½ suspended sentence and five years of probation. He was accused drugging and sexual assaulting a city employee and embezzling city funds. Warner was fired in 2017. The Eastern New Mexico New reports, the victim and several family members had urged a tougher sentence. Warner’s crimes “don’t qualify” for a stiffer penalty, although he added several conditions not in the plea agreement.
