FBI OFFICIALS WARN TO STAY SAFE WHEN ONLINE SHOPPING
NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – With today being Cyber Monday, online shopping increases; however, the opportunity for cybercriminals to strike also increases, cybersecurity experts warn. KRQE reports that FBI agents are warning shoppers to be aware of the scammers who may be targeting online purchases. Many techniques are used by the scammers, and officials have given tips on how to avoid becoming potential victims. DO not respond to unsolicited email, known as spam, do not click on the links contained within the email, be cautious of emails that claim to have pictures or attachments, as the files can contain viruses, contact the actual business that supposedly sent the email to verify that the email is genuine and avoid filling out forms in the emails that may ask for personal information. Officials say to remember, that if it looks too good to be true, it usually is.
