FATAL ACCIDENT ON STATE ROAD 467
CLOVIS (KSMX)- Earlier today (July 19) at approximately 9:24 AM, Curry County Sheriff’s deputies responded to milepost 12 on New Mexico State Road 467 for a motor vehicle crash with injuries.
The investigation determined that a 1996 Ford Aerostar, driven by Octavio Vasquez (28, Clovis), was traveling north on NM 467 behind a concrete truck. As Vasquez attempted to pass the concrete truck, his vehicle struck a southbound 1996 Cadillac, driven by Marcos Urban Jr. (64, Clovis), resulting in a head-on collision. Urban was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center with critical injuries. He died a short time after arrival at the hospital.
Vasquez was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center, and later flown to a medical facility in Lubbock, Texas with critical injuries.
The investigation is continuing.
