Eastern New Mexico University to Host Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at New Pickleball Courts

PORTALES, NM –

ENMU will be hosting the grand opening of the new pickleball courts on Wednesday, June 21st, at 4 p.m. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be hosted by the Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce.

The pickleball courts are located at the ENMU Vetville Recreation Area. Two old tennis courts were renovated into eight pickleball courts, allowing for up to 32 people to play at one time. All ages are welcome on the courts.

Funding was provided by donations from the Portales community and ENMU supporters. “We greatly appreciate the generosity of Max, June, Scott, and Jane to make this happen,” said James Johnston, ENMU President. “It is truly a recreational gift to the campus and community. My wife and I have already purchased our equipment! We look forward to learning the game and seeing others from the community on campus enjoying the courts.”

For more information on the ribbon-cutting ceremony, please contact the ENMU Foundation at enmu.foundation@enmu.edu.
