Eastern New Mexico University awarded $16 million for improvements

Eastern New Mexico University will receive several campus improvements from funds approved during this year’s legislative session.

The school will receive $12 million for a new student academic services building, a project that is scheduled to begin later this year.

EMNU will also receive $400,000 for the Advanced Center for Speech-Language Therapy and Audiology Training, Research, and Clinical Services. This project aims to bring diagnostic pediatric audiology services to the local community.

Funding also includes $332,000 for expanding STEM training and research, in addition to equipment for student training, faculty, and research. Plus $300,000 for a TV signal router for KENW, and other broadcast-level production upgrades.

In a press release, ENMU Chancellor James Johnston said, “We are grateful for the support we received from this legislative session and our elected officials’ investment in higher education.”
