DARRYL TURNER FOUND GUILTY

CLOVIS (KSMX) – Ninth Judicial District Attorney Andrea Reeb announced that a Curry County jury found 31-year-old Darryl Turner of Clovis guilty of voluntary manslaughter. The crime stems from September 2017, when David McDonald was gunned down by Turner at the Clovis Apartments. Following the shooting, Turner fled to California, where he was arrested on unrelated charges. He was extradited back to New Mexico. The Honorable Matthew Chandler presided over the four-day trial. Judge Chandler ordered that sentencing be held at a later date. Turner faces at least six years in prison and could have his sentence enhanced by prior felony convictions.
