CURRY COUNTY VOTES TO APPROVE ALCOHOL RESOLUTION TO BE ON ELECTION BALLOT
CLOVIS (KSMX)- The Curry County Commission voted yesterday unanimously to approve a resolution allowing for election to adopt local option provisions of the Liquor Control Act to a popular vote this November. This resolution, if passed, will allow for the sale, service and consumption of alcohol in the county. Some supporters say it will open up new business development.The ballot already includes elections for various school boards and the Clovis Community College Board of Trustees. Roosevelt County officials have spoken about possibly putting the issue on the ballot in Portales, as well.
In more commission news, the Clovis City commission will take up the task of finding a replacement for Ladona Clayton at tomorrow’s meeting. She will be resigning next month and the board has until August 12 to name her successor in District 1.
