Curry County awarded RAID grant funds

Curry County has been awarded a $28,220 Recycling and Illegal Dumping grant, according to a release from the New Mexico Environmental Department.

The grant is intended to address illegal dumpsites, to improve local recycling options, and to promote environmentally responsible practices across Curry County.

Officials say the funds will be used to purchase a solar powered Bigbelly Smart Max trash compactor for the courtyard on Main Street, in order to reduce litter from downtown events.
