CPD WARNS OF SCAM IN THE AREA

CLOVIS (KSMX)- The Clovis Police Department has become aware of a scam that seems to be making its way through Clovis a little more personally than those that have been encountered in the past. According to the official Facebook page of CPD, yesterday morning, a local resident contacted the Police Department wishing to make a donation. This person had received a letter in the mail from Police Officers Support Association, soliciting a donation. Officials’ suspicions were raised and asked for a copy of the letter, because the department doesn’t typically solicit donations with the exception of Cops and Kids Christmas.
The local Clovis Police Officers Association isn’t soliciting for any donations at this time. The address on the letter returns to a mailbox at a shipping, printing and packaging store. If you have received a copy of this letter, please consider this information before you act on it. For more information please direct to the Facebook page of CPD or contact authorities.
