CLOVIS (KSMX)- The Community of Clovis has seen an increase of homeless animals over the past year and two community members are working hard to raise money for animals shelters to help accommodate the surge. Kayleigh Mitchell Freeman and Jazmin Bailey have turned to the city to help save the animals that are at risk of being euthanized.

“It’s sad to see these animals that are picked up and know that there is a set number of days to either find a home or be euthanized,” stated Bailey. “We want people to see the animals that are homeless and to face the fact that we have a problem.”

The women teamed up with Kelley’s Bar and Grill to try and make a start towards a way to save some lives. Tomorrow (July 17) from 4-7, the public is encouraged to come have some fun at a meet and greet event with potential take home animals and to help others like them get rescued. All proceeds from the silent auction will go towards the Clovis Animal Shelter. The public will be able to take part in live music, family fun and most importantly possibly meet a new best friend.

“We have a lot of great different items and services up for auction that have graciously been donated by the community. There’s no way we could save every dog but I just hope that this could make a slight difference,” said Freeman.
