Clovis Police Department issues reminders for the public

CLOVIS (KSMX)- The Clovis Police Department released a statement on the changes in how the Department will handle some calls for service for their safety and the community.

“I realize these are challenging times and everyone is doing their best to help our community and the nation in minimizing contact with each other. Due to the changes with the schools and how our community is currently functioning, please remember we still need to use caution in our daily activities.”

The Clovis Police Department is still working to keep the community safe and will respond to the needs of the city. However, the department also has to take care of their personnel and assist them in staying healthy and trying to keep them from becoming infected.

Please remember some of the following things:

  • If you have a crime occur to you, please call the Clovis Police Department on either the administrative number for non-emergency situations, or the 911 line for emergency situations.
  • Please call the police department, before posting it on social media so we can respond to you.
  • Please make sure you are locking your vehicles, homes, sheds and anything you do not desire to have taken or gone into. The majority of our vehicle burglaries are due to the vehicle is not locked.
  • Do not make yourself a victim, please do your part in securing your property.
  • Stolen cars: The majority of our stolen cars are due to the fact the keys are left in them and they are not properly secured. Please take the keys and lock the doors so your vehicle is not taken.
  •  Firearms: We have had guns taken from vehicles, one of the recent ones put Officers’ lives in danger. The suspects utilized this pistol to shoot at Officers when they were attempting to escape. Take your guns out of your vehicles, no one wants to be the cause for someone else being injured or killed. Remember, part of gun ownership is being responsible and keeping the firearm secured and out of the hands of the wrong people.

“The Department appreciates everyone working together and doing their best to help families, friends and the community in these critical times. The police department is still working for our citizens, if you have any questions please contact us. Please take care of yourselves, wash your hands and keep your, “social distance”.”
