Clovis Mayor appointed to Mayor’s Council

CLOVIS (KSMX)- The following press release was posted on the City of Clovis website:

Clovis Mayor Michael Morris met with a Mayor’s Council, a group of sixteen mayors from across the state, appointed by Governor Lujan Grisham who is tasked with providing “a source of input, advice, ideas and support for a plan for reopening,” according to Cheif of Secretary of State John Bingaman.

“While I am glad to see plans taking shape to reopen the state, and am grateful Clovis has been invited to the table to provide input, reopening cannot happen soon enough for businesses continuing to be impacted by closures related to COVID-19,” advised Mayor Morris Friday. “I continue to advocate for creating public awareness about COVID-19 safe practices and encouraging personal responsibility. However, during yesterday’s meeting, I expressed my belief that Clovis is ready, right now, to open with COVID-19 safe practices and metering restrictions in place. Our next meeting is scheduled for Monday and I look forward to continuing to share Clovis’ perspective regarding reopening with the group.”
