CLOVIS MAN SENTENCED ON 8TH DWI CHARGE

CLOVIS (KSMX) – Ninth Judicial District Attorney Andrea Reeb announced that 55-year-old Randall Pruitt of Clovis was sentenced for his 8th DWI conviction. Pruitt was found guilty back in December of last year. This latest charge stems from December of 2017, when a neighbor called police because Pruitt had crashed into her vehicle while apparently attempting to get into his driveway. When police investigated, Pruitt refused to comply with a breath test, and at that time a warrant was obtained for a blood draw. Lab results showed a presence of cocaine. The Honorable Fred Van Soelen imposed the maximum sentence of twelve years in prison and told Pruitt that he was sentencing him “because he was a threat to society, himself and others.”  The judge read off the list of seven prior DWI convictions going back to 1990.  Pruitt’s driver’s license will be revoked for life and upon release from prison he will serve two years on parole.
