CLOVIS MAN SENTENCED IN 2017 SHOOTING DEATH

CLOVIS (KSMX) – A Clovis man has been sentenced for a crime stemming from 2017. The man, 31-year-old Darryl Turner was sentenced to the maximum sentence of six years for the slaying of David McDonald at the Clovis Apartments. In February of last year, Turner was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter by a Curry County jury. The Honorable Matthew Chandler presided over the sentencing hearing and heard emotional statements from both McDonald’s family as well as the defendant’s family. Turner, who also spoke, apologized to McDonald’s family.
