CLOVIS MAN KILLED IN FATAL ROLLOVER ON US 70 IN EASTERN LINCOLN COUNTY

LINCOLN COUNTY (KSMX)- A Clovis man was killed Sunday in a fatal rollover on U.S. 70 in eastern Lincoln County. The Ruidoso News reported that at 10:01 a.m., June 16, New Mexico State Police officers investigated a single vehicle fatal rollover crash near milepost 306, west of Roswell, according to a release from Officer Dusty Francisco, public information officer for New Mexico State Police.

The Initial investigation indicated a 2011 Toyota, driven by Sotero Acuna, 19, of Clovis, was traveling east. For reasons unknown, the Toyota left the roadway on a curved portion of the road, he said. Acuna was ejected and sustained fatal injuries and pronounced dead on the scene.

A 16-year-old male passenger in the vehicle sustained unknown injuries in the crash and was transported to a local hospital, Franciso said.

Alcohol is believed to not be a factor in the crash and seat belts appear not to have been properly used, he said. No additional information was available.
