CLOVIS MAN HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH OPEN COUNTS OF MURDERING HIS MOTHER
In a press statement distributed Thursday morning from the Clovis Police Department, the following information about another homicide in Clovis has been released.
On Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at about 7:05 p.m., Clovis Police Department Dispatch received a call from a subject requesting that Officers respond to the 1200 block of North Lea Street. The caller relayed they believed Joann Caballero (47 years of age) had been killed by her son Martin Caballero (27 years of age).
Clovis Police Officers arrived on scene, locating Joann Caballero in a small, detached residence on the property of the main home. Officers noted that Joann had no signs of life. Officers moved to the main home on the property, contacting the homeowner who granted them entry into the house. Within the home, Officers contacted Martin Caballero in the bathroom. Martin Caballero was detained without incident and was transported to the Clovis Police Department.
Detectives of the Special Operations Unit and the Major Crimes Unit were activated and tasked with investigating this homicide.
Martin Caballero was arrested on an open count of Murder and Tampering with Evidence. Martin Caballero is currently being held in the Curry County Adult Detention Center.
