CLOVIS MAN FOUND GUILTY, FACES 15 YEARS

CLOVIS (KSMX) – It was announced by Ninth Judicial District Attorney Andrea Reeb that a Clovis man was found guilty of CS contact of a child under the age of 13, which is a second-degree felony. 28-year-old Elvis Gayton is now facing up to 15 years in the New Mexico Department of Corrections and a life time registration as a sex offender. In November of 2017, the victim reported to her mother that she had been assaulted by a close family friend. More information was later disclosed during a safe house interview. Gaytan was arrested a few days later. The Honorable Judge Matthew Chandler presided over the two-day trial and ordered that Gaytan be taken into immediate custody pending a sentencing hearing.
