CLOVIS MAN ARRESTED ON MANY CHARGES OF BURGLARY LAST NIGHT
CLOVIS (KSMX)- At 2:25 am last night (Friday, June 21), officers of the Clovis Police Department were dispatched to North Prince Street, Martin Enterprises, for a burglary. The suspect, identified as Derrick Morales, 34, had left the area following the burglary but officers were able to track his movements due to a blood trail where Morales was located and detained. He was transported to the Clovis Police Department as officers began investigating multiple crime scenes associated to Morales.
While at the Clovis Police Department, Morales damaged an interview room. He was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center for a foot injury he had incurred during the burglary and other criminal damages that had been committed. He was ultimately transported to the Curry County Adult Detention Center to be booked on the following charges;
- Aggravated Burglary; for entering Martin Enterprises, where he armed himself with a firearm
- Larceny over $500.00; for taking property valued over $500.00 from Martin
- Enterprises, Criminal Damage to Property: for damaging property belonging to Martin Enterprises,
- Criminal Damage to Property: for damaging a vehicle belonging to Curry County
- Criminal Damage to Property: for damaging the building at 417 Gidding Street
- Criminal Damage to Property: for damaging the interview room at the Clovis Police Department
- Criminal Damage to Property: for damaging the building of the Eastern New Mexico News
