CLOVIS MAN ARRESTED AFTER ARRANGING MEETING WITH CHILD

CLOVIS (KSMX) – A Clovis man has been arrested and charged with Child Solicitation By Electronic Means and four counts of Attempted Criminal Sexual Communication With A Child. A news release from the Curry County Sheriff’s Office says 49 year-old Calvin Lary was jailed after a late-September investigation had begun when a deputy was contacted by a Clovis resident. The resident reported that his 12 year-old daughter had received inappropriate messages through social media from an adult male. Deputies began monitoring the account and posed as the 12 year old. They say Lary sent multiple inappropriate messages and explicit photos and videos of himself. Then a meeting was arranged for this past Thursday. Lary showed up, but instead of being greeted by the girl, he was greeted by deputies who arrested him. Lary was booked into the Curry County Detention Center and is being held pending a district court detention hearing.
