CHS Marching Band Finishes Season With a Bang

CLOVIS (KSMX)- The Clovis High School (CHS) Marching Band traveled to St. George, Utah, Saturday, November 9, to compete in the Bands of America (BOA) Utah Regional Championship. This marks the fifth BOA Utah Regional competition for the Clovis High School Marching Band.

Thirty-three bands from New Mexico, Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, South Carolina, Utah, and Washington competed in the championship.

Following preliminaries, the band swept the following caption awards, Outstanding Music Performance, Outstanding Visual Performance, and Outstanding General Effect, a first for the CHS Marching Band, and won Class 3A.

In finals competition, the band earned a Silver Medal, 2nd place finish and tied for the Outstanding Musical Achievement award, which is the band’s first time to win a caption award in Finals competition.

The Utah Regional competition brings a close to a very successful season for the Clovis High School Marching Band.

The CHS Marching Band is under the direction of Mr. Bill Allred, and is assisted by Brandon Bahara, Timothy Clifford, Stephanie Lenhart, Melissa Rice-Perez, Daniel Perez, Jennifer Flores, Color Guard instructors Savannah Muir and Trystan Hennessy, and student-teacher Dystyn Crane
