CHRISTMAS FESTIVITIES KICK OFF TOMORROW

CLOVIS (KSMX) – As we turn over a new month into December tomorrow, several festive activities will be taking place to welcome in the Christmas season. Tomorrow in Clovis, beginning at 1:30 p.m., Clovis MainStreet will host Santa at the Railroad Park for free photos until 3:00 p.m. Mrs. Clause will read the Nutcracker at 3:00 p.m. at the Library, with the annual Clovis Light Parade beginning at 6:00 p.m. in downtown Clovis. The route will start at 14th, heading down Main Street to 2nd, with the tree lighting in front of the Curry County Courthouse at 6:15 p.m. Executive Director for Clovis MainStreet, Lisa Pellegrino-Spear says the organization is expecting this year’s float count to be bigger than ever. She noted that there are several new float entries this year, which is anticipated to put the float count well over 70.  The festivities continue Sunday with the Clovis Fire Department playing the Portales Fire Department Charity Basketball Game for Secret Santa. The game will take place at 2:00 p.m. in the Portales High School Gymnasium. Finally, December 7th the Portales Light Parade will take place on the Square at 6:00 p.m. with a community Christmas Party from 7:00-9:30 p.m. at the Yam Theater.  $5.00 entry fee gets a family of 4 or less inside for games, crafts and more.
