CLOVIS, New Mexico — Clovis Community College (CCC) earned four 2025 Medallion Awards—two Gold and two Bronze—from the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR) District 4, recognizing the college’s strategic creativity and strong community connection in higher education marketing.
CCC was recognized in the following categories:
• Gold — Social Media or Online Marketing Campaign: Crying Hector video campaign
• Gold — Campaign Wild Card: Dug Mascot Reveal
• Bronze — Booklet: Graduation Program
• Bronze — E-Publications: 2024-2025 Course Catalog
The NCMPR Medallion Awards are the leading regional honors for marketing and public relations at two-year colleges — and the only competition exclusively dedicated to community and technical institutions. District 4 is one of the most competitive regions in the nation, spanning Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Many competitors represent larger institutions, making CCC’s wins especially notable.
Both Gold award-winning campaigns debuted in April 2025 during National Community College Month, each blending humor, visibility, and campus pride. The “Crying Hector” series followed a student who comically kept missing campus pop-up events—his exaggerated reactions becoming an inside joke that fueled engagement and awareness across CCC’s channels.
The DUG Mascot Reveal campaign staged a playful “kidnapping” of departments’ cardboard prairie dog cutouts, leading to a dramatic recovery event in the Commons where the redesigned DUG mascot was unveiled. The campaign turned the reveal into a campus-wide celebration of identity and community spirit.
The awards were announced at the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR) District 4 & 6 Conference, held October 22–24, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Congratulations to our Communications and Marketing team for their award-winning campaigns. Their creativity, innovation, and strategic campaigns continue to promote the college’s vision and share our story with the community,” said CCC President Dr. Jonathan Fuentes.
CCC’s Communications and Marketing team consists of four professionals and two student workers — all alumni of Clovis Community College and/or Eastern New Mexico University. Their success highlights the depth of talent developed through higher education in eastern New Mexico and demonstrates that regional training produces nationally recognized excellence.
The Communications & Marketing Department leads college branding, media production, public relations, and digital engagement strategies, supporting enrollment growth and strengthening regional partnerships. CCC’s award-winning work shares a unified purpose: remove barriers, welcome students, and strengthen their connection to opportunity.
