Cannon Air Force Base gives tribute to front line essential workers

CLOVIS (KSMX)- Yesterday May 11, Three MC-130J Commandos from the 9th Special Operations Squadron and a CV-22 Osprey from the 20th Special Operations Squadron of the 27th Special Operations Wing at Cannon Air Force Base flew over Clovis and Portales in support and appreciation of the healthcare workers, first responders and other essential employees selflessly defending the Nation against COVID-19.

“Over the last few months healthcare workers, first responders, and other essential employees have selflessly defended the Nation against COVID-19. Three of Cannon’s MC-130J Commandos and a CV-22 Osprey delivered a flying tribute to these resilient Americans,” said Chief Master Sergeant Hope Skibitsky, Command Chief, 27th Special Operations Wing.

In a press release, Colonel Robert Masaitis, Commander, 27th Special Operations Wing stated “the American military has a long, proud legacy of resiliency, sacrifice and victory in war. Here at Cannon, our Air Commandos have a mission that is essential to maintaining America’s security and ensuring American victory on the battlefield by providing specialized AirPower, anytime, anyplace and anywhere”.

Operation American Resolve will see flyovers in cities across America to demonstrate the Department of the Air Force’s continued readiness during the national COVID-19 response, while saluting the American heroes at the forefront in the fight against COVID-19.
