NEW MEXICO (KSMX) – The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish began accepting applications for the 2019-2020 big-game and turkey licenses and permits yesterday morning, online and over the phone. As new rules were put into place last year, the department recommends reviewing rules such as all big-game or turkey hunters must possess a valid license, and permit if applicable, for the species and hunt type in which they will participate. Hunters must also possess an electronic copy of their license, as well as possess a game-hunting license. Hunters must also file all mandatory harvest reports from last seasons hunt to be eligible for this years draw. The application deadline for bear and turkey permits is 5 p.m. Feb. 13. The application deadline for big-game licenses is 5 p.m. March 20.More information regarding the hunting licenses and rules can be found at wildlife.state.nm.us.
