BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT GRANT AWARDED

The New Mexico Tourism Department (NMTD) awarded the New Mexico Clean & Beautiful (NMCB) grant to Curry County to implement litter control and beautification projects. Through this grant, the County is able to contract with civic organizations and youth groups to collect litter, at a rate of $7.00 per hour for each youth under the age of 18 who assists in picking up trash.

The mission of New Mexico Clean & Beautiful is to inspire and educate people to take action every day to improve and beautify the environment. Together, with community stakeholders, they create socially connected, environmentally healthy, and economically sound environments that are great places to live and visit. Through beautification, litter reduction, recycling initiatives, and education, communities have built and maintained appealing public spaces, removed millions of pounds of trash from our landscape, recycled waste that would otherwise have ended up in landfills, and taught youth about the value of clean, green, and beautiful spaces.

If any youth organizations, clubs, or sports teams are interested in fundraising while also making their community a nicer place to live, please contact Curry County Community Services Administrator, Nikki Lovett at 575-763-6016 ext. 132 or email nlovett@currycounty.org
