ARREST MADE IN CONNECTION TO TEEN HOMICIDE

On November 2nd, 2021 at 8:02 P.M. Clovis Dispatch received two 911 calls in reference to a juvenile male who had sustained a gunshot wound to his head. The incident occurred at a residence in the 800 block of East 7th St.

Officers arrived at the residence and located a 17-year-old male with a single gunshot wound to his head inside the home. The 17-year-old gunshot victim was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center where he later died from his injuries. The residence in question belongs to 21-year-old Theodore Avalos.

This case was investigated by the Major Crimes Unit. On November 3rd, 2021, Theodore Avalos turned himself in for questioning. Concluding the interview with Avalos, a warrant was obtained and he was placed under arrested on the following charges; involuntary manslaughter, tampering with evidence, giving alcoholic beverages to a minor (2 counts), and negligent use of a deadly weapon (2 counts).

At this time Theodore Avalos has been taken into custody and booked into the Curry County Adult Detention Center on the above-mentioned charges.
