ACCIDENT BETWEEN MELROSE AND CLOVIS HAS LED TO DICEY DETOUR
CLOVIS (KSMX)- Both Eastbound and Westbound lanes of US 60/84 at mile marker 368 (between Melrose and Clovis) are closed and traffic is being redirected down the Cannon Air Force Base/Ranchvale 311 road due to a motor vehicle accident.
Comments have come in from concerned citizens on the route where the detour is being directed.
Being a narrow two-lane road, the 311 Ranchvale Detour is becoming the popular choice when trying to avoid or being directed from the accident on US 60/84. With the amount of traffic on this road, many drivers are becoming nervous with the lack of road space they have, especially when it comes to passing a larger vehicle driving the opposite direction.
A driver from Texas who does not know the area very well commented, “my truck was in the grass when a smaller car came my way but when larger vehicles came, I wasn’t even on the road”. A much smaller accident on the detour has been reported as well.
Drivers are asked and reminded to drive slowly and be extra conscious of their surroundings while taking this detour.
State police are on the scene and officials have reported that it will be a long process for investigation and clean-up. Details on the accident its self has not been released but it has been confirmed that it involves a semi-truck and a smaller car. The severity of the injuries of those involved is not yet confirmed.
