AAA WEEKEND GAS WATCH SHOWS STEADY PRICE OVER LAST WEEK

AAA New Mexico weekend Gas Watch says that with low fuel prices, Labor Day travel prices are expected to be the lowest drivers have seen in 16 years. The statewide gas price average in New Mexico is $2.03 for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel. That price is one cent less than this day last week and a whopping 45 cents less per gallon than on this day last year. Drivers in Santa Fe are paying the most in the state at $2.08, which is still well under the national average of $2.21 per gallon.

As summer driving season comes to a close, the statewide pump price fell week-to-week. The summer driving season, which is unofficially Memorial Day through Labor Day, gave drivers in New Mexico, and around the country, the cheapest summertime prices since 2004. The New Mexico average for 2020 was $2.00 for a gallon of regular unleaded.
