4 YEAR OLD GUNSHOT VICTIM HOSPITALIZED *UPDATE*
On August 24, 2021, at approximately 12:00 PM, Curry County Sheriff’s deputies and the Clovis Fire Department responded to 1051 New Mexico 311 regarding the report of a four-year-old child who had been shot in the head. The young boy was immediately transported by ambulance to Plains Regional Medical Center, and then flown to a medical facility in Lubbock. The Major Crime Unit was activated to assist with the investigation into this incident. It was determined that the child was at home with a parent when the injury occurred.
On Wednesday, August 25, 2021, the Sheriff’s Office was notified that the child had succumbed to the injury at 1:41 AM CST in Lubbock. The child has been identified as Barrett Story (4 YOA, Clovis). The investigation into this incident is continuing, to include findings from the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator.
