2020 JUNIOR LIVESTOCK SALE SUCCESS DESPITE CURRENT PUBLIC HEALTH ORDERS
CLOVIS (KSMX) – The 2020 Curry County Junior Livestock Sale took place on Friday evening at Traci’s Greenhouse after an unusual week of livestock shows at the Curry County Fairgrounds. Each day of the week was designated for a certain animal show to limit the number of attendees and adhere to social distancing practices. All livestock shows were held outside in the Kevin Roberts Arena where parents and spectators social distanced by bringing their own chairs.
The annual Friday night sale, which is typically held at the Curry County Events Center, was held on private property as a private sale of livestock which is considered essential business under the current public health orders. All 115 exhibitors had the opportunity to sell their animal unlike previous years. Even though participation was down this year, the 2020 Junior Livestock Sale brought in $400,000, up $100,000 from previous years, due to tremendous community support.
