Ute Pipeline receives extra funding

The Eastern New Mexico Water Utility Authority (ENMWUA) has received a grant to continue the construction of the Ute Lake pipeline. The grant consisted of $20 million, and is coming from the New Mexico Water Trust Board.

According to the ENMWUA, the grant will be spent in many areas; “The $20 million allocation from the WTB will be instrumental in advancing the Eastern New Mexico Rural Water System’s transmission pipeline phases, particularly Raw Water 1, Raw Water 2, and essential components such as Intake pump station, Caprock pump station, and Caprock storage tanks.”

In terms of progress on the Pipeline project, ENMWUA stated, “Construction is currently underway on the Finished Water 1  project, a 15.5-mile transmission pipeline phase beginning just northwest of Cannon Air Force Base and ending at the future water treatment plant location. The ENMWUA is also currently under construction with the Finished Water 3B pipeline project which will connect the ENMRWS to the City of Portales system Lime Street water storage facility.”
