Teen charged with armed robbery in Clovis

A teenager has been arrested on multiple felony charges in Clovis.

The Clovis Police Department received a call reporting a robbery around 1:30 pm on Saturday.

The caller had been approached by three male juveniles while he was operating a piece of farming equipment in a field near the intersection of Curry Road O and New Mexico State Road 245.

The caller said that the juveniles told him that they had just been robbed.

Deputies with the Curry County Sheriff’s office were sent to the area, contacted the caller and victims, and began their investigation.

Investigators learned that three other juveniles driving a black sedan picked up two of the victim from a home in Clovis and a third from Portales. An additional juvenile was then picked up from an undisclosed location. The group reportedly planned to smoke marijuana.

At the intersection of Curry Road N and Curry Road 11, the vehicle stopped and two juveniles pulled out firearms and ordered the victims to turn over their belongings.  The juveniles with firearms began firing the weapons toward the feet of the victims, who then ran into a field where they eventually contacted the caller.

The offending juveniles fled the area in the car. The victims were able to provide a detailed description of the vehicle and the offending juveniles.

Clovis Police dispatch reported a vehicle matching the description stopped in the 1000 block of Martin Luther King Junior Blvd in Clovis.

A search warrant was executed and several firearms were recovered from the vehicle.

A 15-year-old was arrested and charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and false imprisonment.

The Curry County Sheriff’s Office says this investigation remains ongoing.
