Stage 2 water restrictions in effect for Portales

Portales, NM – Acting City Manager, Pat Gallegos, announced that the City of Portales is asking residents to adhere to stage 2 water restrictions due a reported loss of 6 feet of water in the city water tank.

In an email announcement, Gallegos acknowledged that the hot weather makes water conservation difficult but is “asking the community to conserve as much water as possible” adding that “once the tank level drops below 18 feet, we may have to go into stage 3 water restrictions.” The city water tank is currently sitting at an estimated 20.2 feet.
