SHOOTING EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING RESULT IN TWO DEAD

On Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at about 8:52 am, Clovis Police Department Dispatch received multiple 911 emergency phone calls in reference to ‘shots fired’ in the area of 700 block of East 5th Street.  As Officers were responding to the area, additional calls for service in reference to this incident, came into the Dispatch center.

Officers were dispatched to a gunshot wound victim who was outside of a building in the 300 block of North Prince Street, less than two blocks from the ‘shots fired’ call. The victim, a 58-year-old Ricky Johnson, had a gunshot wound to his abdomen. On the arrival of Clovis Fire Department ambulance, he was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center with life threatening injuries. Johnson was then transferred to a Lubbock, Texas hospital where he died.

Officers who arrived at the scene of the shooting in the 700 block of East 5th, discovered another person, Kenny Hodge  a 53-year-old male, who had received multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. Life saving measures were taken by on scene Officers and he too was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center with life threatening injuries. Mr. Hodge died from his wounds at Plains Regional Medical Center.

 The suspect, Danny Price, 54 years of age, has been charged with Murder (1st degree felony, 2 counts), Tampering with Evidence (3rd degree felony, 1 count), Felon in Possession of a Firearm (3rd degree felony, 1 count) and Resisting, Evading, or Obstructing an Officer (misdemeanor, 1 count). Danny Price is currently being detained in the Curry County Adult Detention Center.
